Book a talk

Our goal at Sussex Underwater is to spread hope within our local community by sharing the story of nature recovery happening in Sussex. We deliver talks and interactive workshops to primary and secondary schools, youth clubs and community groups.

We hope to connect people to nature and inspire the next generation of ocean advocates by sharing our underwater films and positive stories.

School Talks

In schools we can deliver in-class sessions or assemblies, ranging from 20 minutes to an hour.

Talk Content

Our talks consist of;

  • Co-founder Eric Smith’s inspiring story of his life out in the Sussex sea and his eye witness account of the destruction of the eco system by trawling.
  • The 2021 Nearshore Trawling Byelaw
  • Kelp and why it is such an important ecosystem
  • Our story of hope following the trawler ban
  • Films of the beautiful sea creatures in Sussex and the recovery we are starting to see

We can provide our own projector, screen, PA system and laptop for the talks.

Workshops

Making a kelp forest – After learning about the story of Sussex Underwater and our local marine life, children get the chance to decorate their favourite sea creatures and add them to a collaborative kelp forest art piece.
