What we do

The Sussex Underwater way

Sussex Underwater team

Community-Led Conservation: We are driven by our local community, dedicated to protecting our marine environment for the benefit of Sussex residents. Our efforts are by locals, for locals.

Harmony with Nature: We embrace free diving as a way to connect intimately with the sea, minimising disturbance to marine life and allowing for natural recovery to thrive. Climate Optimism: Despite the challenges we face, we remain optimistic about the future. Through our actions and advocacy, we believe positive change is possible, inspiring hope for a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

Our vision

To cultivate a future where the seas surrounding Sussex thrive, where the trawler ban is rolled out to all Marine Protected Areas and nurtures thriving eco-systems, helping to combat climate change.

We advocate for sustainable fishing practices and highlight the benefits of a healthy marine ecosystem to fishermen, ensuring their livelihoods remain viable for generations to come.

Our mission

Sussex Underwater School talk

To spread awareness and knowledge, advocating for the protection of our marine ecosystems. Through education and outreach efforts, we aim to document the resurgence of sea-beds post-trawler ban, inspiring action and continued stewardship now and for the next generation.
